Location Page Image Monyash is a picturesque village in the Peak District, which is located close to Lathkill Dale, one of Derbyshire's most beautiful dales.

The village's spacious roads mean your comfort is never compromised by other visitors, even in the height of summer, and the garden cannot be seen from the road.

Its main focal points are the mere, the church and the lovely village green, which is flanked by the pub and the café. It was once a market village and today the old market cross still stands on the green.

For walkers, the Limestone Way walking trail passes through the village and the other famous walking trails and Derbyshire Dales are all within a few miles.

Cyclists will love the splendour of the White Peak, and the Tissington and High Peak cycle trails can be joined just over a mile away.

Arbor Low, an ancient stone henge, is just outside the village, and there are many caves to explore in north Derbyshire.

The stately homes of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are a short drive away where films such as Wolfman, The Duchess, The Other Boleyn Girl, Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice were partly made. Chatsworth offers a fantastic farm shop for great, local food.

The cottage contains copious information on the area and on activities for all ages. The stunning Peak District views can be freely enjoyed by all visitors to Britain's first National Park.

The Bulls Head pub is 150 yards from the cottage and offers great food and a wide selection of wines, lagers and bitters, including guest beers, which are changed regularly.

Lying just outside the village you will also find Tagg Lane Dairy, a working dairy farm offering a range of home made cakes, pastries and ice cream, to eat in or to takeaway.

Next door to the Bulls Head is the walkers' and bikers' favourite café, The Old Smithy, where food can be eaten in or taken out. Their speciality is all-day breakfast - loosen your belts! It is equally popular for a superb local ice-cream and on sunny afternoons almost everyone is walking around with an ice-cream cone.

Monyash boasts a superb children's playground, located behind the pub. The village is 4.5 miles from the beautiful, unspoilt town of Bakewell, famous for its tarts, puddings and pies! It has a superb selection of independent food shops, as well as pubs and restaurants. Small, specialist shops guarantee a great shopping trip. Manchester city centre is easily accessible, a hour's direct train journey from Buxton Station.

Buxton is 9 miles away and Matlock and Ashbourne are both 12 miles. The nearest airport is Manchester, 39 miles away, and East Midlands is 49 miles away.
